NEC (National Exhibition Centre) experiences complete Radio coverage for the first time!

Northampton, UK – April 29, 2009.

Opened by Her Majesty the Queen in February 1976, the NEC exhibition complex within its entirety has never had the privilege of a system offering total site coverage, both Indoor and Outdoor until just recently.

Skymasts Antennas Ltd was chosen for the Design, Supply, Installation and  Commissioning of a dedicated Antenna System to provide total multi user UHF Hand portable Coverage throughout each and every Hall as well as all external area.

Special Antenna Arrays were designed and Manufactured to provide the necessary coverage required installed on specially fabricated non penetrating roof frames with the main roof structures being strengthened.

Over 6 km of EUPEN EC-78 was installed as the main coaxial feed to each of the Antenna Arrays with all cable runs fitted with a new cable management to a purpose built Radio Equipment cabin located on top of Hall 5.

A 7 Channel Hybrid Combiner was also supplied to facilitate the multi user requirements.

This new Antenna System now provides the NEC with a totally efficient and extremely robust antenna system able to provide total external and internal Radio Site Coverage of the entire NEC Complex.

The NEC consists of 20 interconnected halls, set in grounds of 628 acres (2.54 km2). It is the busiest and seventh largest exhibition centre in Europe.
