Siemens VDO appoints Skymasts as prime antenna supplier for London Bus
As part of the contract to upgrade and enhance the London Bus Communications Network, Siemens VDO commissioned Skymasts to create a multi-functional bus antenna that would guarantee extremely high performance in challenging conditions. Our design team worked closely with the technical team at Siemens to arrive at the perfect solution.
The new antenna – the 403.10 – is a derivative of the existing Skymasts 403L low profile vehicle antenna, which has an excellent track record within the Scandinavian Public Transportation Sector.
The 403.10 at a glance:
- Rugged, high performance single antenna offering a multitude of frequency bands and dual-frequency with certain VHF and UHF bands
- Single- or double-stud mounting for quick and efficient installation
- Small, aerodynamic design (approximately 60mm to the top surface of a rugged ABS radome) making it very resistant to strikes from overhanging branches
- A high density, compact base gasket that is water resistant and self sealing, so installation times are faster (as no sealer is needed) and no water can seep through the antenna fixings.
Skymasts will be supplying more than 10,000 of the 403.10 antennas as part of the iBus contract, with a further 5,000 anticipated to deal with bus change outs and other contingencies.
